Monson, MA Drayage Facility Changes Hands

The CrossGlobe Group announced late last month that its Monson, MA facility will be transferred to the Walsh Transportation Group, which will take over operations of the Boston warehouse distribution center by March 1.

The transition is currently in progress, and we believe that the Walsh Transportation Group will continue to provide the same outstanding level of service that our customers have come to expect over the years. The Walsh Transportation Group has a proven track record for excellent customer service and will be able to effectively handle the Monson drayage facility with the same level of commitment and success as The CrossGlobe Group has exhibited.

The CrossGlobe Group’s current marketing agreement with the Walsh Transportation Group will
remain in place, and we will be working diligently during the upcoming month to ensure
that the current customer and vendor base experience a seamless transition.

Evelyn Pennell and her team will continue to handle the daily activities of the facility, which is one of the top Boston warehouse distribution centers in the area.

Bill Franks, the president and CEO of The CrossGlobe Group, said the transition will allow The CrossGlobe Group to put a greater focus on its port-based logistics services.

Jerry Gordon, the vice-president of sales and marketing for the Walsh Transportation Group, said he was excited about the changes taking place at the Monson drayage and logistics center.

“The Monson Operation will enable WTG to extend our portfolio of services into an area we have long been looking for, the connection of transload operations from boxcar to 48 state Intermodal and OTR Truckload operations," Gordon said. "We are excited to be able to have the wand passed from CrossGlobe Group to WTG and feel confident that this partnership will benefit everyone."

CrossGlobe Group's CEO Bill Franks Elected as Director for Virginia Maritime Association

Bill Franks, the president and CEO of the CrossGlobe Group, was recently elected as one of the directors of The Virginia Maritime Association. He will serve alongside other industry leaders as a director in 2012-13, using his extensive knowledge and experience in drayage and logistics to enhance maritime commerce at the Port of Virginia.

The VMA, established in 1920, serves as the "voice" of the Port of Virginia, working to promote, protect and encourage business and commerce there.

The CrossGlobe Group is extremely proud to have Franks on the board of directors, as his election to the board is a testament to his leadership skills and logistics expertise.

Franks joined the CrossGlobe Group in 2008 and has played a significant role in the success and growth of the company, which specializes in things like Virginia cross dock and Virginia warehouse management. Port of Virginia Tax Credit Incentives

Bill Franks, CrossGlobe Group's CEO, attended a bill signing Monday, June 20, 2011 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Governor Bob McDonnell signed three bills designed to encourage growth and enhance The Port of Virginia's competitive position by providing certain port users with tax incentives. The three bills--Volume Increase Tax Credit, International Trade Facility Tax Credit, and State Barge and Rail Usage Tax Credit—provide existing users with tax incentives to use The Port of Virginia more aggressively, while encouraging new users to choose The Port of Virginia.

"The bills provide tax credits for users of the port based on increased cargo volumes, job creation and use of the port's barge and rail services," according to the Port of Virginia official website blog. "This bill grants a $50 per container income tax credit for any company shipping cargo containers via barge or rail."

The legislations signed Monday by Governor McDonnell will help to level the playing field for The Port of Virginia in comparison to other East Coast ports. The competition instilled by the increased tax incentives and tax credits for The Port of Virginia users will help to attract new port users and encourage increased volume among existing users.

"In the past, Virginia has offered very little in the way of tax incentives while other states offered considerable incentive packages," said J.J. Keever, the Virginia Port Authority's deputy executive director, according to the blog.

"The competition to attract new port users or to encourage existing customers to increase volumes is greater than ever," said Keever, "So, you have to do those things that enhance your opportunities and these bills do just that."
